Warning: contains potential spoilers for Star Trek #7!Earlier this year, it was revealed that a beloved Star Trek: Lower Decks character would join the franchise’s new god-war, and now their identity has been revealed. IDW Publishing has revealed that in April’s Star Trek #7, Shaxs, the USS Cerritos’ tactical officer, will make his first appearance outside of Lower Decks – but what role will he play in the god war?
IDW Publishing teased a Lower Decks character would appear in its ongoing flagship Star Trek title back in January, and took to Twitter earlier this week to confirm it will be Lieutenant Shaxs, who will appear in Star Trek #7, which will be written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and drawn by Mike Feehan. While the Tweet offered no clues as to what role Shaxs will be playing, the storyline he is appearing in will see Benjamin Sisko captured by the Cardassians and hauled back to Cardassia Prime to stand trial for his Dominion War Crimes.
The solicitation for issue seven reveals that Sisko and the crew of the Theseus will travel to Deep Space Nine as part of their quest to stop the Klingon Cult the Red Path from destroying the universe’s god-like beings. It reads:
Continuing Benjamin Sisko's quest to stop celestial genocide in "The Red Path," the second arc of the critically acclaimed Star Trek flagship comic series continues! Sisko returns to Deep Space 9, and it's the family reunion we've all been waiting for-or is it? Meanwhile, the crew of the U.S.S. Theseus meet a familiar face from Paramount+ hit show Lower Decks.
