Will Star Trek: Section 31 feature an appearance by Star Trek: Discovery's Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green)? The long-awaited Section 31 series starring Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou was revamped and announced as the first Star Trek original movie event on Paramount+. Section 31 will see Georgiou return to the Starfleet black ops agency, which she was previously part of in Star Trek: Discovery season 2.
The plot of Star Trek: Section 31 is top secret, but Emperor Georgiou will "face the sins of her past" in the special movie event. Georgiou is, of course, the former ruler of the Terran Empire in the Mirror Universe who jumped to Star Trek's Prime timeline in Star Trek: Discovery season 1. After arriving in the 32nd century with Michael Burnham and the USS Discovery, Georgiou learned she was dying from both time travel and switching realities. The Guardian of Forever (Paul Guilfoyle) tested Georgiou by returning her to the Mirror Universe, and the sentient time machine was satisfied that the Emperor had emerged a better person from the fascist dictator she originated as. To save her life, Georgiou left the 32nd century for parts unknown, and Section 31 will pick up her story, at last.
