Harry Kim (Garrett Wang) began a morbid trend on Star Trek: Voyager that lasted for all seven seasons of the show. Kim was the USS Voyager's operations officer and the youngest, least experienced member of the ship's senior staff. Unfortunately, he also got the short end of the stick quite often during Voyager's run. Harry was never promoted past Ensign despite multiple opportunities for advancement, and he also developed a reputation for getting into dangerous situations when the plot needed someone to be severely injured or, in some cases, even temporarily killed.
Harry's misfortune began in Voyager's pilot episode, where he was infected with a seemingly incurable disease. However, his first death and resurrection came in season 1, episode 8, "Emanations." During the episode, Harry was forced to undergo what was essentially euthanization, taking the place of an alien who was unsure about the procedure in order to escape a planet he had been sent to by mistake. Although Voyager's Doctor (Robert Picardo) was able to revive Harry upon his return to the ship, his death ended up being only the first of many, not just for him, but for the entire Voyager crew.
Harry Kim Kicked Off Star Trek: Voyager’s Many Character Deaths Over the course of Voyager's seven seasons, over half the main characters died and came back to life at least once, and this trend began with Harry's first death in season 1. Besides Harry, characters like Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), Chakotay (Robert Beltran), B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson), Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), and Neelix (Ethan Phillips) were killed and then somehow brought back in numerous episodes. Harry didn't even end up being the Voyager character with the highest death record; that honor goes to Janeway who died on screen upwards of 15 times.
