Warning: SPOILERS For Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 9 – "Vox" Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas confirms that Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick) can still appear in his proposed spinoff show Star Trek: Legacy. After starting as an antagonistic and obstructive figure, Captain Shaw quickly became a fan-favorite character. It was presumed that, if the show was commissioned, Shaw would be a big part of Matalas' proposed Star Trek: Legacy, however his heroic death in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 9, "Vox" appeared to nix this possibility.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Terry Matalas confirmed that Captain Shaw could still appear in Star Trek: Legacy. Matalas revealed that both he and actor Todd Stashwick have plans for Captain Shaw, despite Star Trek: Picard killing him off. Read Matalas' comments on Star Trek: Picard's shock death, and his cryptic tease for Shaw's return below:
No, this was always Shaw's journey. But should there ever be a spin off – and let me be clear THERE IS NOTHING IN DEVELOPMENT AT PARAMOUNT – but should one day the stars align, there was a plan from Day One for Todd as Shaw to be a part of it. How, you ask? It's AMAZING. And that's all I will say. And every time Todd and I talk about it we get chills. And no it is not a cop-out. It's kinda incredible and moving and fresh, and I hope one day we get to do it.
