Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 7 gave Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) his equivalent of Captain Jean-Luc Picard choosing to play poker with the USS Enterprise-D crew in Star Trek: The Next Generation's series finale. In DS9 season 7, the series was winding down its epic Dominion War story arc, and the final stretch of episodes was a serialized tale that concluded with the United Federation of Planets' victory over the Cardassian and Dominion alliance.
But before Star Trek: Deep Space Nine committed itself to wrapping up the Dominion War, it gave Captain Sisko and his crew a lighthearted holosuite adventure in the style of the 1960s Ocean's Eleven in the episode, "Badda Bing Badda Bang." When Vic Fontaine's (James Darren) Las Vegas casino is taken over by mobsters, his DS9 friends decide to help their tuxedoed friend by pulling a casino heist. Everyone, that is, except for Worf (Michael Dorn), who can't understand why they all care so deeply about a hologram, and Captain Sisko, who is irritated for reasons he reveals later. But after a talk with his love, Kasidy Yates (Penny Johnson), Sisko joins the action to make their heist a success. Vic's casino returns to normal, and Captain Sisko caps off the celebration by performing on stage with Vic Fontaine.
